Dog Friendly Boston(and surrounding towns)

I don’t know why it has taken me so long to write a blog post on dog friendly Boston. I lived in Boston the past 2 years with Charlie so I have found a couple places being dog friendly while doing my own research. So if you live in Boston or are visiting I hope you find this helpful! As always please double check everywhere you go before you decide to go.

Acorn street is a perfect spot to take photos with your dog.

Hotels:

  1. Mandarin Oriental Boston: Located in Back Bay.
  2. Liberty Hotel: Located in Beacon Hill
  3. Lenox Hotel: Located in Back Bay.
  4. Fairmont Copley Plaza: Located in Back Bay
  5. The Whitney Hotel: Located in Beacon Hill
  6. Loews Hotel: Located in Back Bay
  7. The Colonnade Hotel: Located in Back Bay. Has a rooftop pool
  8. Kimpton Marlowe Hotel: Located in Cambridge
  9. Revere Hotel: Located in downtown by the Boston Common
  10. Boston Park Plaza: Located in downtown by the Boston Common.
  11. Westin Boston Seaport: Located in the seaport
  12. Seaport Hotel: Located in the seaport.
  13. Battery Wharf Hotel: Located in the North End
  14. Westin Copley: Located in Back Bay

Restaurants:

South End Restaurants:

Back Bay Restaurants:

  • Precinct: Located in the Loews Hotel. Classic Boston food. Dog friendly on the patio.
  • Rochambeau: French cuisine. Dog friendly on the patio.
  • Il Patio de Eataly: Italian cuisine. Dog friendly patio.
  • Stephanie’s on Newbury: American food. Dog friendly but dogs must be leashed on the other side of the fence of your table.
  • Shake Shack: On Newbury Street. I know Shake Shack is nationwide but it’s always a good option for a burger on their patio with your pup. They have doggie sundaes!

Fenway Restaurants:

  • Eventide: Seafood. Dogs allowed on patio
  • Tasty Burger: Local burger spot with my favorite burgers. Dogs allowed outside. They have treats for sale.
  • Tatte: Bakery and coffee shop that allows dogs on patio.
  • Sweet Cheeks: BBQ joint that allows dogs on patio.
  • Tiger Mama: Asian fusion restaurant. Dog friendly on patio. Great cocktails.
  • Saloniki Greek: Casual Greek food joint. Dog friendly patio.
  • Thornton’s: American bar food but dog friendly patio. Great mudslides.

Seaport:

  • City Tap: American food. Dog friendly patio. Water bowls and treats provided.
  • Bartaco: Mexican food. Dog friendly patio Water bowls provided.
  • Legal Harborside: Dog friendly on the first floor patio. Dogs must be on the other side of the rope while dining.
  • 75 on Liberty Wharf: Dog friendly on the patio. Dogs must be on the other side of the rope while dining.
  • Cisco Brewery Seaport: Outdoor beer garden with beer, wine, and canned cocktails. Super dog friendly. Multiple food trucks of options to eat. (apparently right now because of Boston rules they are not dog friendly)
  • Smokeshop: BBQ food. Dog friendly patio.
  • Sullivan’s on Castle Island: This is in South Boston not Seaport but it’s still close. Classic take away American burger/hot dog/seafood joint, but has great walking areas for your dog right on the water!

Cambridge:

North End/Waterfront:

  • Joe’s American Bar and Grill: American food right on the water. They have a dog menu
  • Battery Wharf Grille: Located in the Battery Wharf Hotel. Classic elevated American cuisine with crafted cocktails Dogs allowed on patio.
  • Tia’s: American bar food situated right on the harbor. Dogs allowed on patio.

Restaurants outside Boston:

  • The Pour Yard: Located in Quincy (south of Boston). American bar food that allows dogs on patio.
  • Pearl and Lime: Located in Quincy (south of Boston). Mexican food that allows dogs on patio.
  • Port 305: Located in Marina Bay in Quincy. Right on the water with beautiful views of Boston. Variety of food between American and seafood. Dogs welcome on deck.
  • Siros: Located in Marina Bay in Quincy. Right on the water with beautiful views of Boston. Variety of food between American, Italian, and seafood. Dogs welcome on deck.
  • The Fours: Located in Quincy. American comfort food. Dogs welcome on patio.

Breweries/Beer Gardens/Distilleries

  • Owl’s Nest: Located right long the Charles River on the Back Bay side. Night shift brewing beer garden with picnic tables and games.
  • City Winery on the Greenway: Right on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in the financial district.
  • Trillium on the Greenway: Located right on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in the financial district. They offer cider too in addition to beer.
  • Short Path Distillery: Located in Everett. North of Boston. Super dog friendly patio.
  • BearMoose Brewing: Located in Everett (north of Boston). Brewery that allows dogs on patio.
  • Widowmaker Brewing: Located in Braintree (south of Boston). Brewery that allows dogs inside the tap room and outside.
  • Mighty Squirrel Brewing: Located in Waltham. Just outside Boston. Brewery that allows dogs outside.
  • Untold Brewing: Located in Scituate (south of Boston) Brewery that allows dogs outside.
  • Nashoba Valley Winery/Brewery/Distillery: 50 minutes west of Boston. Winery, brewery, distillery where you can have your own picnic or order lunch boxes from them. Dog friendly all outside.

Stores:

  • Polka Dog Bakery: Multiple locations. Located in the South End, Seaport, North End, Hingham, Chestnut Hill, Jamaica Plain, and Lynnfield. Charlie’s favorite treats are the cod skins.
  • Boston Barkery: The most adorable drool worthy dog treats. Located in Copley Place and Chestnut Hill.
  • Fish and Bone: Dog apparel, treats, and toys. Located on Newbury Street.
  • J.P.Licks: No dogs allowed inside but they offer doggie sundaes. Multiple locations around Boston.

Activities:

  • SoWa: Open air market every Sunday May -October. Local vendors in a dog friendly outdoor environment.
  • Walk along Charles River Esplanade. Beautiful views of Boston and the Charles. Multiple locations to stop and relax along the way.
  • Newbury Street: So many stores are dog friendly on Newbury street so take a stroll with your dog!
  • Take a stroll along Castle Island in South Boston. Beautiful ocean views.
  • Boston Common: Dogs on leash are welcome all throughout. Designated are for off leash dogs.
  • Freedom Trail: Historic 2.5-mile-long path through downtown Boston.
  • Acorn Street: Take photos on this historic picturesque street in Beacon Hill.
  • Dog Days Of Summer Cruise: Massbay Lines cruises on June 6, July 3, July 11, July 24, August 8, August 22, Sept 12. Time (Day-time events): 2:00pm – 3:30pm. Cost: Adults: $25.00*

Beaches:

  • Nahant Dog Beach
  • Rexhame beach in Marshfield (south of Boston). Always dog friendly all year long.
  • Stodder’s Neck dog beach/park in Hingham (south of Boston)
  • Most beaches aren’t dog friendly from Memorial Day-Labor Day
